RNLI SEA CHECK SERVICE
That this House congratulates the Royal National Lifeboat Institution on the completion of the first year of its free Safety Equipment Advisory check service, in which more than 2,300 boat owners requested face-toface advice on safety equipment; regards this as an excellent example of prevention being better than cure; welcomes the aim of expanding the scheme to some 20,000 SEA checks per year; and applauds the contribution of its 10 full-time coordinators and 400 experienced volunteers who currently provide the SEA check service.

That this House congratulates successive administrations on Hampshire County Council and the personnel of its recreation department on the 35th anniversary of the decision to create the Calshot Activities Centre in and around the historic hangars of the former RAF flying-boat station on the Solent; and recognises the important contribution made by the centre to fostering a spirit of team-work and adventure in young people as well as acquainting many of them for the first time with out-of-town activities.

NATIONAL FLEET AIR ARM MEMORIAL
[This Motion was supported by 137 Members of Parliament.]
That this House welcomes the proposed national Fleet Air Arm Memorial in honour of more than 6,000 men and women who gave their lives in service with the Royal Naval Air Service and the Fleet Air Arm from 1914 to 1918 and since 1938, respectively; acknowledges the vital role played by naval aviation in defence of freedom during the 20th century; recalls the 40 battle honours won in two world wars and in subsequent campaigns, including Korea, Borneo, the Falklands, the Gulf and the Adriatic; and believes that the unveiling of the Memorial in June 2000, in Victoria Embankment Gardens outside the Ministry of Defence, will be a fitting tribute to those who have died and an inspiration to future generations.
