Dr Julian Lewis: I congratulate my right hon. Friend on his well deserved promotion. Will we continue with the UK's Trident ballistic missile nuclear deterrent irrespective of the outcome of the Scottish vote?
[The Minister for the Armed Forces (Mr Andrew Robathan): I thank my hon. Friend for his congratulations. Current Government policy is to continue with the continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent based on Trident. Should the Scots vote for independence – God forbid! – we would need to review the situation, but the continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent remains our policy, and I see that proceeding into the future.]
