Dr Julian Lewis: Have not the exchanges this afternoon shown once again that the Opposition’s position is that any agreement at all, no matter how bad for Britain and no matter how extortionate, is better than a clean break in 2019 if a good deal for Britain is not then on offer? Does it remain Government policy that a clean break in 2019 is better than a bad deal, as it may lead to more fruitful negotiations further down the line after we have actually left the European Union?
[The Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union (Mr David Davis): The answer is yes, because the Prime Minister reiterated that just the other day.]
