Party politics were put aside when, for the seventh year in a row, the House of Commons triumphed in its annual target shooting match against the House of Lords at Bisley. New Forest East MP Julian Lewis, who came second out of the 17 participants in the contest, is pictured (right) with the captain of the Commons Rifle Club Labour MP Martyn Jones, who came first. Dr Lewis, who has taken part in six of the seven most recent contests, said:
“The Lords gave us a real run for our money this time but we raised our game sufficiently in the second round to see them off”.
Every year, the Michael Colvin Cup is presented for the best individual performance in memory of the former Romsey and Waterside MP who captained the team prior to Mr Jones.
